One of the most important things in a snail terrarium is leaf litter. Snails only feel truly comfortable when they are provided with a suitable layer of leaves.
The leaves provide good hiding places.
In addition, the leaves release tannic and humic acids, thereby protecting the animals from bacteria and fungi. Genuine cacao leaves are an ideal substrate in tropical rainforest terrariums. The cacao leaves give your terrarium the appearance of the animals' natural habitat.
If necessary or as a precaution, you can also bake the leaves again.
