Description
Lissachatina fulica is one of the most commonly kept species of giant African land snail. It can lay 150–500 eggs every week. Some specimens of this large land snail can reach a shell length of up to 24 cm, though they more commonly reach 12 cm. As they originally come from the rainforests of Africa, they require higher humidity and warmer temperatures. The snails can live up to 12 years. The terrarium or enclosure should be adapted to the size of the snail. You can find a complete set for this snail and everything you need to keep giant African land snails in our shop under the respective category. Different snail species should not be kept together in the same terrarium. The recommended group size for this species is at least 3 animals. If you are unsure, we recommend the snail video call available in the shop. Then we can find out through questions which species is right for you or whether you have set everything up correctly for your species. You can find more information about snail keeping on our YouTube channel: Slimeside, on our social media accounts, on Instagram and TikTok. If you want to chat with other snail keepers, join us on Discord. More information about snail keeping can be found in the giant African land snail information section here on the website.
Snail shipping: Our snails only travel first class! In summer and winter, during extreme temperatures, we sometimes wait a few days to ship them for the sake of the animals. Please refrain from asking about the status every day. We make sure that the animals arrive safely with you, we are the only land snail shop with courier delivery, because that is the gentlest way for the animals. In winter, the winter packaging is included in the shipping price. As soon as it gets cold, the animals will be sent to you with a heat pack and a Styrofoam box.
When the animals arrive with you, remember to let them acclimate at room temperature for half to three-quarters of an hour first. You know that at Slimeside, everything always takes a little longer. Give your snails the time they need.
Warm regards,
your SlimeSide Team
